WOMAN’S PORTRAIT

Claudio Bonichi, Piccola Musa, 1987

[…] Elsa, Delfina, Maria Pia, Nietta, Benedetta, Martina, Chiara, Clelia, Mina, Cristina, Elisabetta, Raphael… are just some of the women who participated in the artistic, political and cultural life of the Bonichi Peluzzi family. Muses, mothers, wives, lovers, daughters, models but also photographers, painters, revolutionary singers, writers… seamstresses, housewives, entrepreneurs… It doesn’t matter much whether they were models, or artists, housewives or revolutionaries because they are women this transformative magic that makes them capable of creating life and a work of art, clearing a tablecloth and fighting the Austrians on the barricades, knowing passion and patience, being muse and creator. Often exploited for this extraordinary multifaceted gift to which women have been forced for centuries, it is up to us to fight for their rights and potential to be recognized by all, against any attempt at submission, debasement or violence. To fight, because, like men, they can choose whether to pose or paint, whether to reproduce or create, whether to clear away or engage in politics… because being able to do everything does not mean “having to do everything” but rather having more chances in choosing what you really want to do.

Eso Peluzzi, Delfina, 1921

We have therefore selected some works, from the collection of the Peluzzi Bonichi Museums, in which women are the protagonists. From 1921 to today. Portraits made by women and women portrayed, women imagined, transfigured, embellished, aged, enchanted. The women of the Peluzzi Bonichi Museums, mirror and memory of all women.
